Tomb Sweeping (清明節)Workshop & Panel Discussion

Tomb Sweeping Workshop April 3rd at the Hub at 115 Bowery

Join us for a special (清明節) Tomb Sweeping Workshop, where we’ll dive into the traditions of ancestor veneration—what it means, how it’s practiced, and its deep cultural significance.

We are honored to have Alice Liu of Grand Tea & Imports, Ruoyi Jiang of Chop Suey Club, and Jan Lee, third generation Chinatown Resident to share their stories and how they observe the holiday and followed by a workshop.

Our community partner panelists will introduce you to the background of this holiday and the significant it has to Chinese culture and community. They will also share how they personally practice with their family, and perspectives on you can celebrate/observe if you are interested. After the panel discussion we will have a workshop on how to fold Joss Paper + personal reflection, and end with group burning of the joss paper offerings.

Whether you’re looking to reconnect with your roots or learn something new, this is a space to reflect, remember, and honor those who came before us.

Space is limited so please RVSP (below) to confirm your attendance!
