Feed Our Heroes: $18.9K back into Chinatown!

We've had another busy week here at Welcome To Chinatown! We continue to be blown away by all the love and support donors and supporters have shown Chinatown. THANK YOU to all our donors! A few updates from us this week:

  • We served 1,500+ meals to 16 hospitals across all 5 NYC boroughs

  • That equates to ~$16,000 put back into Chinatown businesses!

  • Next week, we are estimating another 1,500 meals to frontline workers.

Our goal is to continue supporting Chinatown businesses and frontline workers at least through the rest of the shelter-in-place mandates. As of today, with your generous donations, we have raised $43,525, with roughly $22,000 remaining in funding, which allows us to operate for another week. As Governor Cuomo has announced NYC on PAUSE through May 15, we hope you will be able to continue donating or sharing, so we can keep these deliveries going. Help us reach our new goal of $100,000 by continuing to spread the word and donate!

While any donation size is deeply appreciated, we have been asked how far a donation reaches. Here is what your donation can do:

  • $0 - Free! Spreading the word about Welcome to Chinatown is a powerful and effective way to share our cause.

  • $10 - Supplies one meal for a frontline worker

  • $100 - Cover the cost for our third-party driver who also serves the frontline to ensure meals are safely delivered. We use volunteer drivers as much as possible, but in some cases, we use a delivery service to assist with larger drop offs.

  • $500 - Feed one meal’s worth to one frontline organization. We estimate roughly 50 meals are requested per drop off.

  • $2,000 - Feeds one day’s worth of meals to multiple frontline organizations across the city.

  • $5,000 - Feed 2-3 day’s worth of meals.

  • $15,000 - Feeds a week’s worth of meals.

Deliveries are done by our volunteers or a delivery service and occur twice a day to cover lunch and dinner for our essential workers. We've also been making a concentrated effort to ensure we are donating to essential workers in all boroughs. Moving forward, we'll be updating our website with more detailed financial information so please check there for additional insights to how your donations are being used. Our goal is full financial transparency!

We know there are many great causes to choose from, and it means the world to show your love to Chinatown by donating to our fundraiser. But enough from us, read the quotes from our participating restaurants and frontline workers, and the gratitude for your donations.

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our pharmacy -- you fed our entire department (inpatient, ICU, IV, chemo, satellites, Ruttenberg outpatient oncology, investigational,  robot, outpatient, pediatrics, clinical staff, managers, technicians, admin, assistants, etc) and we were able to give to the Covid ICU unit too! Everyone loved it all!” - Pharmacist at Mount Sinai
