Welcome to Chinatown is looking for new associate board members for the 2026 cycle to help us amplify our mission and serve as a partner to expand our impact!
The Associate Board (AB) is a dynamic group of Chinatown enthusiasts between the ages of 25 to 39. The AB is an integral part of the Welcome to Chinatown family, serving as ambassadors, partners, and advocates, expanding the organization’s reach and capacity. Through exclusive access to community, sports, fashion, business, and general Chinatown and New York events, members of the Associate Board have the chance to build lasting relationships with community organizers, politicians, notable figures, and their fellow members.
A seat on our Associate Board might be for you if:
You are between the ages of 25-39, and passionate about investing in a beloved community of entrepreneurial grit, neighborhood preservation and cultural vibrancy
You are seeking opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development
Each term is for the calendar year and members can serve an unlimited number of terms until they reach the age limit. The following responsibilities are proposed for all AB members from 2026 - 2027.
Attend all quarterly meetings remotely or in person, kicking off in March 2026 and ending by February 2027.
Attend the annual retreat
Reach an annual philanthropic contribution of $3,000 through give-get (e.g., personal donation or via fundraising efforts which could include associated ticket sales, spend at fundraising events, market events, and other programming events)
Plan and execute an AB fundraiser event together with the rest of the AB, with the goal of raising $10,000 in revenue
Option to join a committee if interested
Collect 88 points through different activities throughout the year as listed on the AB menu which encompasses activities like fundraising, serving on a committee, volunteering, and administrative support
The AB menu will be shared upon acceptance to the AB
Applications will close on February 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.
Note that selected associate board members will be expected to sign a volunteer responsibility form and liability waiver as well as donate $450 upon acceptance which will go towards give-get. The $450 donation can be split across a maximum of 3 monthly payments.
