A Performance, Conversation, and Workshop Series
Chinatown Renaissance is a dynamic series designed to amplify the experiences of Chinese-American youth, exploring identity formation through art and culture. Led by Vanessa Niu, a core member of Urban Word NYC and the Youth Poet Laureate program, this series delves into the intersections of heritage, artistry, and activism.
Rooted in Vanessa’s personal journey as a young Chinese-American artist, the program examines cultural pressures, societal stereotypes, and systemic challenges. By connecting youth with established artists and cultural leaders, Chinatown Renaissance highlights art as a tool for liberation, fosters deeper community relationships, and empowers participants to explore their identities.
