“In the Mood for Food”: Giving Support and Love to Chinatown with Our First Block Walk
Nothing brings people together like good food, and this past weekend, people showed up for Chinatown at our first food crawl. With a name inspired by Wong Kar-Wai’s seminal 2001 film, “In the Mood for Love,” our food tour’s goal was to reignite people’s love for Chinatown through their love of good food and community.
What We’ve Done to Help New Yorkers Get Counted in the 2020 Census + $20,000 Back into Chinatown Businesses
According to the AAPI Data survey, Asian Americans reported a lower likelihood of filling out the census than any other demographic group. To combat these challenges, last month, Welcome to Chinatown partnered with various community organizations and local businesses to support outreach efforts among the hard to reach populations within Lower Manhattan.
Announcing Our 1st Round Longevity Fund Grantees
We created The Longevity Fund to help fill the gap for Chinatown’s small businesses, who were often left behind from many of the public and private loan and grant programs available for COVID-19 relief. Through your generous donations, we were able to fund our first round of grantees. Today, we’re excited to announce our first 10 businesses receiving our Longevity Fund grant!
