Town Hall: A Readout of New Data on Health Risks & Air Quality Levels of Chinatown’s Megajail
As the excavation and construction phases of the Manhattan Borough-Based “Megajail” begin, there are growing concerns in Chinatown of a repeat of the issues present throughout the demolition phase. This time, the air, noise, and vibration issues will persist for several years.
Following a previous town hall with Neighbors United Below Canal, which examined the health and environmental risks posed by the demolition phase, we are reconvening the community on Aug 13th from 6 to 8 PM at The Hub to continue the conversation and to look ahead in preparation for the construction phase. Our panel will discuss findings from a recent air quality monitoring study conducted during the megajail’s demolition phase, and share experiences advocating for improved safety measures and how we can fight together for better solutions.
