Volunteers who register will receive a code for free co-working (9am–4pm) at the Hub for the day of the event.
Why canvass storefronts?
Chinatown has been on the defensive for decades. Critical support often only arrives after it's too late: After a legacy business closes, after a block loses its character, after displacement is irreversible. To change that, we need to understand what's happening in real time.
Through storefront canvassing, we can:
Track closures and openings, and see what businesses immediately need WtC support
Spot trends in business types, and identify commercial corridor shifts - what’s growing, what’s disappearing
Advocate with real evidence, and give policymakers and media the data they need to support Chinatown’s future
Preserve culture and legacy by building a historical record of Chinatown’s commercial corridor
This is a monthly event that will take place every 4th Thursday of the month, from 4–6 PM.
