Join our Team: Development Manager (Full-time Position )
The Development and Community Manager is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising and community building strategies for Welcome to Chinatown.
This is a multifaceted role critical to Welcome to Chinatown’s expansion. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board Chair, Board of Directors, and Chief Operating Officer, the Manager will develop and operationalize robust fundraising and community building strategies for Welcome to Chinatown’s growth and vitality. Though challenging, it will be an immensely rewarding role that will have pivotal responsibilities in driving Welcome to Chinatown’s sustainability and impact.
The Development and Community Manager will be responsible for:
Organizational Development
Developing and implementing Fundraising strategies, program partnerships, and strategic alliances
Developing and implementing a Community Building strategy with a focus on volunteer experience and volunteer base growth
Streamlining donor and volunteer communications by improving process efficiencies and driving engagement
Representing Welcome to Chinatown at external-facing events
Fundraising & Communications
Executing on-the-ground management of fundraising, and coordinating in-person and virtual events
Communicating fundraising updates, deadlines, and milestones to the extended Welcome to Chinatown team, including the Board Chairman
Acquiring new donors and cultivating relationships through donor stewardship (individuals and corporations)
Overseeing Welcome to Chinatown’s Grant Writer
Serving as the primary contact for prospective and current donors, as well as writing and distributing donor communications (newsletters, event invitations, social media updates, and reports)
Maintaining and updating donor records in Welcome to Chinatown’s database (EveryAction)
Volunteer Management
Develop Welcome to Chinatown’s volunteer pipeline by executing communication and marketing strategies to grow the volunteer base, and serving as primary contact for prospective volunteers
Maintain volunteer profiles in the directory, and onboard/offboard volunteers
Research and pursue strategic partnerships with mission-aligned groups including other non-profits, community groups, and Employee Resource Groups
Innovate the volunteer experience, drive volunteer engagement, and facilitate volunteer recognition through gratitude
Work with the broader Welcome to Chinatown team to match and place volunteers to projects based on skill sets and ambition
Coordinate organizational news and updates for volunteer distribution
Our ideal candidate has:
3+ years' work experience in business development or a development manager role
Non-profit organization, foundation, and/or political fundraising experience
Work experience with CRM and/or donor management systems
Passion for DE&I and connection to AAPI community
Interest in and previous experience in volunteering
A proven track record in 360 project management (ideation through execution)
Creative problem solving and data-driven decision making skills (data & metrics analysis)
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse demographics (volunteers and donors)
Ability to delegate- leading, motivating and directing others (consultants and volunteers)
General knowledge of Human Resources best practices
Working knowledge of Cantonese, Mandarin, or Fuzhounese (a plus!)
A candidate must:
Live in New York City (or commutable location) upon employment
Be able to regularly work a nontraditional schedule that is outside of typical M-F office hours
Compensation and Benefits:
Annual salary of $75,000-85,000
