Announcing Welcome to Chinatown as the host city for the 2nd Annual North America Chinatown Solidarity Conference

Last year, Vancouver Chinatown Foundation spearheaded the North America Chinatown Solidarity Conference in Vancouver and marked the beginning of a powerful movement- uniting Chinatowns across the U.S. and Canada to address shared challenges and opportunities. As we reflected on the inaugural event, we saw how it fostered meaningful dialogue and formed coalitions dedicated to preserving the cultural, historic, and economic legacy of our Chinatowns. It was a pivotal moment for our communities, laying the groundwork for long-term collaboration and solidarity.
This year, we are proud to announce that Welcome to Chinatown will host the 2nd Annual Chinatown Solidarity Conference in New York City from October 9-11, 2024. We are excited to build upon the foundation set last year by expanding our reach to include representatives from 21 Chinatowns across North America, along with national organizations dedicated to advocacy and community support. By bringing these diverse voices together, we aim to deepen our collective impact and create actionable strategies that will ensure Chinatowns remain vital, resilient, and vibrant for generations to come.
Throughout the conference, attendees will partake in dynamic sessions, including panels on cultural and historic preservation, workshops addressing public safety and community resilience, and hands-on breakout sessions focused on economic revitalization and small business support. We are committed to providing a platform where ideas can be shared, resources exchanged, and collaborations sparked—strengthening our efforts as a unified community.
We look forward to welcoming our fellow leaders and advocates to New York City for three days of learning, strategizing, and, most importantly, solidarity. Together, we will build on the success of last year and continue the vital work of preserving and revitalizing Chinatowns across North America. Though this is a closed door conference, we will be sharing the learnings and outputs post conference.
