Behind the Scenes: Made in Chinatown x Bangkok Center Grocery

"Fish sauce is life." What inspired Kasey Coffey's Bangkok Center Grocery design for our Made in Chinatown Spring collection? Here's Behind the Scenes of Kasey's shirt and tea towel!

Bangkok Center Grocery is a little slice of Thailand in the heart of Chinatown, carrying Thai ingredients ranging from curry pastes to Kaffir lime leaves. Owner Premjit (Nong) Marks and her staff are ready to help you find whatever you may need.

As a Thai American, Kasey wanted to spotlight a Thai-owned business and encourage others to cook Thai cuisine. She used lively illustrations and bright colors to make the ingredients more approachable.

Since fish sauce is a key ingredient in Thai dishes, Kasey incorporated an embroidered fish sauce bottle drawing on the front of the long sleeve. The tea towel showcases all the individual components of Tom Yum soup, illustrating the simplicity of an iconic dish.

Shop the shirt and tea towel on madeinchinatownny.com. Proceeds will go back to Bangkok Center Grocery.
